Heraeus PALACADEMY gets you into shape for cementing techniques and infection prevention

The courses and live events offered in 2019 by the Heraeus PALACADEMY provide orthopaedic and trauma surgeons, as well as specialist operating theatre staff, with many continuing education options for modern cementing techniques and infection management in arthroplasty. Registration is now open.

Training for surgical staff

In the ‘Modern cementing techniques’ course, the experts from Heraeus Medical provide a fundamental understanding of PMMA bone cement and its processing and use in arthroplasty. Special attention will be paid to the use of antibiotic-loaded bone cement as a local carrier of active substance for primary surgery and revision arthroplasty. In the practical part of the course, participants practise handling different bone cements and mixing systems.

Surgical staff with experience in revision surgery can deepen and extend their expertise in the course ‘Revision arthroplasty and infection management’. The focus will be on topics such as hygiene measures and antibiotic prophylaxis as well the diagnosis and therapy of periprosthetic infections. A practical workshop and guest presentations by experienced clinicians complete the programme. The format provides ample opportunity for exchange and discussion.

Training events for physicians

The challenging patient and the use of antibiotics in the management of periprosthetic infections are the subjects of the satellite symposia at international scientific conferences. Experts from orthopaedic surgery, infectious disease specialists and microbiologists provide insights into the latest findings.
